Mardell “Trudy” E. Morgenstern, 89 of Temperance, MI, and formerly of Holland, OH, died Sunday, September 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.  The eldest of 13 children, she was born July 17, 1925, in Bellevue, OH, and was the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Bilger) Springer.  She married Richard Morgenstern on May 28, 1964.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2002. Trudy attended Bellevue High School. She was employed most of her adult life, working a season at Cedar Point in the Tunnel Of Love.  She later worked as a ticket seller at the Cla-zell Theater in Bowling Green, OH in 1948.  After her children were born she worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in 1955.  Trudy was trained to be a key punch operator and years later became a supervisor.  While working for Blue Cross/Blue Shield she acquired the nickname, Trudy. She retired after 45 years of service.  Her retirement was short lived when she worked for Hamilton Mfg Corp. and finally at Midwest Tape, retiring in 2011. While working at Hamilton Mfg and Midwest Tape, Trudy made glass candy jars for everyone’s birthday with cross stitch balloons on the lid and each person’s name.  She must have made hundreds! Along with cross stitching, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and did beautiful workmanship. She was known for her unique holiday attire  Trudy dearly loved to dance, from swing to jazz, and any kind of music. Her fingers were always snapping and toes were tapping.  She was truly a remarkable  person.  She single handily raised her two children. She often remarked how lucky neither child had a broken bone.  Trudy lived barely pay check to pay check in those early years. But laughter and fun was the key to making life bearable. Trudy also had a great love of her many cats throughout her lifetime.  She would feel amiss not to mention her special dogs, Tabby, Pooh-Ki and Esmeralda.

Surviving are her loving children, Sandra (Michael) Good-Cousino and James (Diana) Martin.  Grandchildren; Todd, Jeffrey (Susan) and Julie (Keith) Good, Jenna (Denny), James (Drew), Julianna (Mike), Jamie Martin and Jody (Jonny) Bostok Brothers, Robert, Irvin, and Elwood Springer.  Sisters, Rosella (David) Kiesel, and Elaine Gibson.   She was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Pauline, Dale, Donald, and Raymond Springer and Eunice Norman , Arla Forney and Betty Weller.

Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd.  (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm.  Interment will be Saturday, September 20, 2014, at York Township Cemetery at 10:00 am. A great deal of gratitude and thanks is sent to special caregiver and loving granddaughter, Julie Good and her great granddaughter, Anjulee Kurth who administered to their grandmother’s needs and made sure she was comfortable at all times.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Good Bears of the World. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
